Dear Sir:

On September 27, 1945, you wrote me a letter regarding my son, Pvt. David Brinker, who supposedly met his death when the Indianapolis was attacked and sunk on July 30th.

I am writing this letter to you in the hope that you can give me the names of some of the marines that survived or were rescued so that I could get in touch with them in order to set my mind at ease.
