Our goal is to write a biography that includes one or more photographs for each of the 879 men killed in
the sinking of USS Indianapolis on July 30, 1945, as well as the 9 men killed in the Kamikaze attack on
March 31, 1945. Many of the biographies are completed, but many more
remain incomplete.
Below is a list of crew members who do not have a photo on this website. Also, our information about him may be limited. If the name of your loved one or acquaintance is on the list and you have a photo, we need your help.
Simply scan your photo, letter or other document and send it to us by clicking on the crew member's name on the list below.
If the name of your loved one or acquaintance does not appear on the list, it means we already have a photo of him. However, we welcome additional photos and information.

All members of the Project888 team are volunteers. Would you like to help? Assistance locating photos, official Navy records, other documents and information about a crew member is appreciated.
Do you have experience as a biographer or genealogist? We especially need your help.
Consider helping us by researching the men from your city or the entire state! View a list of the crew members arranged by city and state. If you cannot locate information online, search in your local library and state's archive. Check local news archives and papers published in large cities of your state. Your local or state historical societies can be of great help and many have records that have not been digitized.
