My dear Mr. and Mrs. Hodshire,

Your letter of October 4, 1945, reached me today. I regret that there is nothing I can add to the information contained in my letter of September 29, 1945.

All of our personal records went down with the ship therefore, I have no way of knowing whether or not your son was on watch and the names of the men he worked with are not known to me.

I am exceedingly sorry that I am unable to give you more information but I just do not possess it.

In closing, may I again express my deepest sympathies.

Very sincerely,

CHAS. B. MCVAY, III
Captain, U. S. Navy
