November 5, 1945

Dear Captain McVay,

Tom was proud of being a member of your crew and happy in his work aboard the Indianapolis. He was a Navy man.

When Tom reported aboard the Indianapolis he recognized the Officer of the Deck - Mr. Cantalino (Note: Name added in cursive-Lt(jg) Paul Louis Candalino) who was also aid to the Executive Officer, as one of the officers with whom he worked at midshipman school in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Could you let us know if Mr. Cantalino is one of the survivors and if so, his address? We would like to write to him.

Sincerely,
Ethel and Herbert Taggart
