SPINO, Frank J
Private First Class Frank Joseph Spino - USMC He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on April 4, 1944. Frank went aboard USS Indianapolis CA-35 on October 2, 1944 from the Naval Yard at Mare Island, Vallejo, CA. Frank was one of the 20 men who were injured during the Kamikaze attack of on March 31, 1945, during battle action at Okinawa. He was awarded a Purple Heart on Apr 3rd during an on board ceremony by Admiral Raymond Spruance. See Newspaper articles below: 1.
