SHIELDS, Cecil N
Signalman Second Class Cecil Norris Shields was born on February 15, 1920 at Prosser, Washington. His family moved to Kennewick in 1932 where he attended local schools and graduated with the Class of 1937.
Before his enlistment in the United States Navy, he was a member of the Washington State Guard Reserves from which he was honorably discharged. Cecil was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. H was enlisted in the Navy on August 20, 1942 and received his Basic Training at USNTC (United States Naval Training Center), San Diego, California. A Memorial Service for Shields was held in mid December 1945 at the First Christian Church. Chaplain Fagan of the Pasco Naval Air Station officiated. Cecil was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Shields, a brother, Beryle (also serving in the Navy) and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Madene Baze.
