Paul Peter LELUIKA, S2-Seaman Second Class

LELUIKA, Paul P
Seaman Second Class Paul Leluika was born June 29, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He joined the United States Navy May 24, 1943.
Not much is known about where he served, but a few locations are noted. He went to Boot Camp at USNTC (United States Naval Training Center), Great Lakes, Illinois and from there went on to Pleasanton, California. Once onboard USS Indianapolis, he served in the Asiatic Area. It is also unknown what medals and awards he received, but decorations do include the Purple Heart. He married Katherine Deaton in 1943 in Martins Ferry, Ohio before leaving for service. They had one daughter, Jessie Pauline Leluika Berdrow. After Paul’s passing, Katherine Leluika continued to reside in Martins Ferry and married Joseph Leluika, (Paul’s brother). His daughter Jessie later resided in Oregon, married and mother of three, Danette, David, and Cindy, and grandmother of two.
