Jess Lee DUNBAR, F2-Fireman Second Class
DUNBAR, Jess L
Fireman Second Class Jess Lee Dunbar was born on June 19, 1919 in Gunnison, Colorado. His mother, Mrs. Susie Hicks was recorded as living in Gunnison at the time of his passing on July 30, 1945. as a result of the sinking of USS Indianapolis. It is not known as to when Jess Lee actually relocated from Colorado to Utah, but it is recorded that he had been living in Magna, Utah for ten years (1934 to 1944) prior to the start of his September 11, 1944 enlistment in the United States Navy. It is assumed that he completed his initial basic training in the fall of 1944 as records show that he went aboard Indianapolis on December 30, 1944. Jess Lee was survived by his widow, Effie H. Dunbar and two children, daughter Karolina and son Jess Lee, Jr.
