John, Jr. had 5 brothers: Joseph, Harold, Anthony Richmond and Donald. He had 4 sisters: his twin, Dorothy and three additional; Mrs. Florence Carroll, Mrs. Margie Carroll and Mrs. Gertrude Riekse. Prior to joining the U.S. Navy, John was employed by the American Seating Company. He was a member of Bethany Reformed Church.
