Bill Hugh Toth was born on November 17, 1922. Sadly, while he was still a very young boy, Bill’s parents (Mr. and Mrs. William Tosh of Little Rock) passed away. Bill then relocated to Phoenix where he attended Elementary and High School and was raised by his uncle and aunt (Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Magness). Prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy, Bill was working in a defense plant near Los Angeles. It was there where he met and married the former Donna Maples. She subsequently moved to Phoenix where she was living with Bill’s uncle and aunt. Bill had a brother, James, living in Los Angeles and two sisters, Mrs. Corinne Herring, San Francisco and Miss Allie Mae Tosh, Phoenix. Radarman Third Class Bill Hugh Tosh was Lost at Sea with the sinking of USS Indianapolis (CA-35) on July 30, 1945.
